UBS goes USB for smarter banking

Starting in February, global bank UBS will begin to offer its online banking customers a new online banking security solution called the UBS Access Key developed by IBM scientists in Zurich. The UBS Access Key, based on IBM’s Zone Trusted Information Channel technology, resembles a USB-memory stick with an integrated organic-LED (OLED) text display and two buttons with a green “checkmark” and a red “X”. It plugs into the USB port of any computer and creates a direct, secure channel to the bank’s online transaction server, bypassing - for all security functionalities - the PC which is susceptible to hacker attacks.
